Trip To Cancun, Mexico!
Friday, Jan 27th, 2023
Hey guys!! I'm in Mexico! Cancun, to be specific. Today was pretty much just a 6-hour flight. But to those who don't know, get to the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. Otherwise, you are gonna be soooooo stressed to get there on time.
Also, quick tip, if you hate the line for security, get Clear. It's a service that lets you skip the line!
But for flights, you might want to bring a pillow, or two.
When we arrived in Cancun, it was raining. A tropical storm was going on. But we got to the resort okay.
Our resort is called Beach Palace. It is a part of the Palace family of resorts, meaning we can go to every hotel in the Palace brand!
Once we got to the resort, we went to eat at the Indian restaurant there. It was all inclusive, so we just ordered everything.

Today I went swimming!
I was in the water for practically the entire day. There are 3 swimming pools on the ground floor, and 2 on the roof! That's right, there are rooftop pools! And with everything all inclusive, I had like 4 drinks! Non-alcoholic of course.
We also went to the beach. It was windy, so the waves were really big. We also started an impromptu soccer game. My family started kicking around the ball, and then everyone around joined in.
Then we went to the Italian restaurant that was in the resort.
That's it for today!

Today was another amazing day in the pool. We were swimming pretty much the entire day. Though I did get some homework done (yes, even on vacay, I have homework).
We also played water volleyball. The staff at our resort does these hourly entertainment things. So we joined in the hour they did water volleyball.
After that, we went to the nearby mall. It was huge! We walked around there for a little while.
When we came back, there was a Micheal Jackson show going on! There were a whole bunch of people dancing to Micheal Jackson songs! I myself did learn the steps to the Micheal Jackson's Thriller (it was apart of school), so I could relate.
That's it for today! See y'all tomorrow!

Oh Mondays...
Normally, they're terrible. But this Monday was awesome!
We went to the water park at The Grand at Moon Palace! It was sooooo cool!
They had like 6 different water slides, and a flow rider!
A flow rider is pretty much a surfing simulation. You get either a body board or a flow board (which is sort of a small surfboard) and you surf on the waves that are being created by a constant flow of water.
After that, we went to eat dinner at the Grand Buffet. Again, food here is awesome!
But wait! It gets better!
We saw the circus! There was a circus show going on at the Grand at Moon Palace! A group of 6 people were doing different acts and it was amazing!
And that was another spectacular day in Cancun!

I am supposed to be sacrificed.
Well, only in ancient Mayan Culture, but still.
Today we went on a tour of the old Mayan City called Chichen-Itza. Apparently, it's not the pyramid that shows up when you Google it.
That pyramid is called Kukulkan Pyramid, which means "Feather Snake". Feather, because the echo that sounds in the top platform (we couldn't climb up there, it was just really loud) sounds like a bird crow. Snake, because on the equinoxes there is a shadow cast on the pyramid that makes it look like a snake is coming down from the sky.
Chichen-Itza is a water hole 200 yards from Kukulkan Pyramid. It is where people are sacrificed. Chichen-Itza means "The Mouth Of The Well Of The Priest Of Water".
The Kukulkan Pyramid shows how Mayans used to tell time. They had 18 months (shown by the 9 platforms on either side of the pyramid), with 28 days in each, along with another month with 5 days. More on that later. The calendar has 365 days, (same as our current one as the Mayans has the most accurate calendar), which is shown by the 91 steps on all 4 sides. That's only 364 you say. Well, the Mayans counted the tippy top platform as a step. So 365.
Now, on to the month with 5 days. These are the "unlucky days" where people as sacrificed. If you are born on one of these days, you will be sacrificed some time in your life. What days are these you ask. August 6-11th. If you were born on one of these days (like me), and you lived in ancient Maya, you're dead. Sorry.
There was also a game that the Mayans played which ended in sacrifice. They sacrificed enemy captains, they sacrificed people when there was a drought, they sacrificed people when there were hurricanes. In other words, the Mayans sacrificed people a lot.
After we walked around Kukulkan, we boarded the bus again, and went to Cenote. Cenote is a 60 meters deep sinkhole filled with water. A cave collapsed and created a hole which is how it is there. We swam in Cenote (with fish!).
That's it for today!
